There is no such thing as risk free travel … least of all an Overland journey such as our own!
To be safe and secure abroad, and to be prepared in case things go wrong, we’ll be taking a few simple precautions before we go and whilst travelling.
The first stop was visiting our GP surgery and pharmacist for vaccinations, medications and general travel advice. Allow 6-8 weeks before travelling to complete the course. We found some great websites for further information including NaTHNaC and Fit For Travel.
Our next stop was to ensure that we are fully insured for medical emergencies including repatriation.
And finally for the latest travel safety advice, the must visit website is the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. We’ll be registering with their LOCATE service so that the nearest British embassy and crisis staff can assist us in case of emergency.
